These were competitions organised by the Intercommunal Football Association of Murska Sobota (MNZ Murska Sobota), who was one of the nine Intercommunal Football Associations that were responsible for competitions below Slovenian Third League in the Slovenian football league system.

1. MNL was a fourth tier competition in Slovenian football pyramid. The league began on 20 August 2016[1][2] and ended on 28 May 2017.

A total of twelve teams contested the league including nine from the 2015–16 season, two promoted from the fifth tier in the 2015–16 season and one relegated team from the 2015–16 East division of the Third League. Cven won promotion to the fourth tier as the winners of the fifth tier in the previous season. Šalovci won promotion finishing third. The team Mura Veterani finished as the runners-up, but were ineligible for promotion. They replaced relegated Tišina and Pušča.

2. MNL was a fifth tier competition in Slovenian football pyramid. The league began on 20 August 2016[1][3] and ended on 28 May 2017.

A total of nine teams contested the league including six from the 2015–16 season, two relegated from the fourth tier in the 2015–16 season and a newly registered team Radgona B as a reserve team of ŠNK Radgona.

MNZ Murska Sobota Cup

All member clubs of MNZ Murska Sobota outside the top flight were eligible to participate in the cup. Clubs which played in 1. MNL (4th level) or higher were required to participate, while participation for lower level clubs was optional.[4]

Both finalists have qualified for the 2017–18 Slovenian Cup.
