The 2016–17 season was Gandzasar Kapan's 13th year in existence and eleventh consecutive season in the Armenian Premier League. The club finished 2nd in the league, qualifying for the 2017–18 UEFA Europa League first qualifying round, and reached the Semi-Finals of the Armenian Cup.
