The 2015-16 São Nicolau Island League season was the competition of the second-tier football in the island of São Nicolau, Cape Verde. It started on 16 January[1] and finished on 8 May, 2016. The tournament was organized by the São Nicolau Regional Football Association (Associação Regional de Futebol de São Nicolau, ARFSN).[2] The winner plays in the Cape Verdean National Championships. SC Atlético won their 7th title and finished with 36 points and competed in the 2016 Cape Verdean Football Championships.

Overview

FC Ultramarina was the defending team of the title. A total of 8 clubs participated in the competition.

The biggest home win was Belo Horizonte who defeated Talho 2-1 on January 16 in the first week, the biggest away win was AJAT'SN who scored 0-6 over the ailing Talho on April 9. Talho conceded 54 goals and was the second in the club, their continued winless streak at the championships from late 2013 was the worst of any island leagues ever, as the club had no wins, it was worst in the season for the club and one of the worst after FC Ultramarina and SC Atlético in the 2005 season, though the goals were awarded against them as they fielded ineligible players. The 14th round match made Talho's final winless match. In the following season, Talho would win a match and take the lead in the regionals as of the first round.

Ultramarina lost to SC Atlético 0-2 in the São Nicolau derby on March 26, it was also Ultramarina's last loss of the club. Ultramarina now has a 20 match unbeaten streak as of April 30, 2017.

Belo Horizonte took the number one spot for the first two weeks, SC Atlético was number one for the rest of the season.

Atlético scored the most number of goals of the season numbering 37, second was Belo Horizonte who scored 30.

There were no competition on the second and third weeks of February due to the regional cup competitions, also there were no competitions on the third week of March due to the parliamentary elections on March 20.
