On matchday one,[32] on 25 July,[33] Red Bull lost 2–1 to Mattersburg.[34] Markus Pink and Alexander Ibser scored for Mattersburg and Naby Keïta scored for Red Bull.[34] Red Bull finished the matchday tied for seventh place.[33] Red Bull lost 2–1 to Rapid Wien on Matchday two, on 1 August.[35] Athanasios Petsos and Stefan Schwab scored for Rapid Wien and Dimitri Oberlin scored for Red Bull.[36] Red Bull finished the matchday in ninth place.[37] On matchday three,[38] on 8 August,[39] Red Bull and Admira Wacker finished in a 2–2 draw.[40] Yordy Reyna and Naby Keïta scored for Red Bull and Dominik Starkl and Markus Lackner scored for Admira Wacker.[40] Red Bull finished the matchday in seventh place.[39]

Champions League review

Red Bull enterted the competition in the third qualifying round. They were drawn against the winner of the fixture between Malmö and Žalgiris.[82] Malmö advanced to face Red Bull.[83] The first leg took place on 29 July.[84] Red Bull won 2–0 with goals from Andreas Ulmer and Martin Hinteregger.[85] Hinteregger scored from the penalty spot.[85] The second leg was played on 5 August.[86] Red Bull lost 3–0[86] to get knocked out 3–2 on aggregate.[87] Nikola Đurđić, Markus Rosenberg, and Vladimir Rodić scored for Malmö.[86]

Europa League review

Red Bull were knocked out of Champions League by Malmö[87] and entered the Europa League playoff round. Red Bull were drawn against Dinamo Minsk.[88] The first leg was played on 20 August.[89] Dinamo Minsk won the match 2–0 with goals from Gleb Rassadkin and Nenad Adamović.[90]
