2014 Minsk Independence Day Parade

The 2014 Minsk Independence Day Parade was a parade that took place in MinskBelarus to celebrate the 23th anniversary of Belarus's independence from the Soviet Union and the 70th anniversary of the Minsk's liberation from german invaders.[1][2]An address to the nation was made by Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko. Inspecting the parade was Minister of Defence Lieutenant General Yuri Zhadobin. Commanding the parade was the Deputy Minister of Defense, Major General Mikhail Kuzikov. More than 200,000 people were spectated the parade. A contingent from Russia took part in the parade. [3]A Drill team also was present performing during the parade.[3]Commanding the Central Band of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus was Colonel Serguei Kostiuchenko. 3.7 thousand soldiers and 240 pieces of military equipment took part in the parade.[4]The vehicle procession was more than 1,500 meters long.[4]

Preparatory Activities

Rehearsals were held for the honor guard on June 9. The general rehearsals took place on June 11th, 13th, 16th, 18th, 21st and 23rd.[5]
