The 2006 South American Women's Football Championship (Campeonato Sudamericano de Fútbol Femenino 2006) football tournament was played between November 10 and November 26, 2006 at Mar del Plata, Argentina.[1]
The winner and runner-up from this South American Women's Football Championship's third edition qualify to the 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup. The winner also qualifies for the 2008 Olympics football tournament.

Final round
Argentina and Brazil qualified to the 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup. Argentina and Brazil also qualified to the 2008 Olympics, although second placed Brazil had to play an Inter-continental play-off, which they won against Ghana eventually.
