Plot

Dylan Branson (Michiel Huisman) is an air traffic controller who possess a unique ability to visualize patterns. In the opening scenes of the film, he is suspended from his job relating to an aircraft near miss blamed on what appears to be a momentary lapse in his attention occurring at 2:22pm. Shortly after his suspension, in a chance encounter, Dylan meets and quickly falls for Sarah (Teresa Palmer), a beautiful woman. During their first date, Dylan apologies to Sarah when they realize she was on board one of the two planes, but ominously she exclaims that "No, you saved my life!" They begin to fall in love and realize they share the same birthday, but as each day passes, Dylan unexpectedly is experiencing a series of unexplained and common events relating to similar patterns happening at precisely 2:22. As each day passes, Dylan investigates and discovers that these experiences are somehow related to a 30 year old murder that occurred at Grand Central between Evelyn and Jake (around where the strange events are occurring in the present). Dylan feels that there is some unexplained connection between this murder, him and Sarah (and possibly her artist ex-boyfriend who created a hologram mimicking the same scene at Grand Central that Dylan is experiencing which happens to recreate the old murder). As the days speed ahead, approaching Sarah's and Dylan's birthday, and Sarah doubting his sanity, Dylan must race to solve the mystery of 2:22 to preserve a powerful love between the couple.
