- Bolsa de Valores de Cabo Vede or the Cape Verdean Stock Exchange founded in Praia under a governmental decision
- Cabo Verde Express established its head offices at Amílcar Cabral International Airport in Espargos
- Mindelo became twinned with Vila do Conde, Portugal[1]
- The news agency Cabopress changed its name to Inforpress
- Third seismic activity on the Cadamosto seamount and affected the island of Brava
- February 26: a Total solar eclipse took place after 18:00, it showed around 60% obscuration of the sun in the archipelago

- August 8: A Penumbral lunar eclipse took place and was mainly visible, it occurred between 1:00 and 2:00 (1 and 2 AM)[2]
