The 1983 Sacramento State Hornets football team represented Sacramento State University[note 1] during the 1983 NCAA Division II football season.
Sacramento State competed in the Northern California Athletic Conference (NCAC). Prior to 1983, the conference had been known as the Far Western Conference (FWC). The Hornets were led by sixth-year head coach Bob Mattos. They played home games at Hornet Stadium in Sacramento, California. The team finished the season with a record of five wins, five losses and one tie (5–5–1, 4–1–1 NCAC). Overall, the team outscored its opponents 258–245 for the season.
