The 1983 NSW Building Society Open was a women's tennis tournament played on outdoor grass courts in Sydney, Australia that was part of the 1983 Virginia Slims World Championship Series. The tournament was held from 21 through 27 November 1983. Third-seeded Jo Durie won the singles title, the first British female player to do so since Dorothy Round in 1934.[1][2]
