• 30 March – a group of People's Liberation Party-Front of Turkey militants headed by Mahir Çayan who had kadnapped two British and one Canadian techinians were killed after gunfight
• 7 May – In the kurultay (congress) of the Republican People's Party (CHP) Bülent Ecevit the former secretary general of the party defeated party leader İsmet İnönü.
• 28 May – Galatasaray won the championship of Turkish football league.^[2]
