Champions Maslahat Naqil Al-Rukab
(1st Maslahat Naqil Al-Rukab title)
(1st Amanat Baghdad title)

The 1956–57 Iraq FA Cup Championship was the 2nd season of what is now known as the League of the Institutes (the top division of Iraqi football from 1948 to 1974), and it was the first national championship to be held since the 1948–49 season. Unlike that season, this time it was open to teams from Baghdad only.

It was played as a double-elimination tournament, with the teams that got knocked out early being relegated. Maslahat Naqil Al-Rukab won their first title, which was also the first title in the history of the teams that were later merged to form Amanat Baghdad. There were five other teams that participated in the tournament: Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya Al-Malikiya, Montakhab Al-Shorta, Al-Adhamiya, Al-Numan and Al-Athori.[1][2]
