The 1942 Arizona State Bulldogs football team was an American football team that represented Arizona State Teachers College (later renamed Arizona State University) in the Border Intercollegiate Athletic Association (BIAA) during the 1942 college football season. In their first season under head coach Hilman Walker, the Bulldogs compiled a 2–8 record (1-4 against BIAA opponents) and were outscored by their opponents by a combined total of 256 to 53.[1][2] The Bulldogs finished (1-3) at home and (1-5) on the road. All home games were played at Goodwin Stadium in Tempe, Arizona. Arizona State's team captain was Steve Vukcevich.

Season Summary

In the season opener, Arizona State Teacher's College lost 54-6 at San Francisco. P Al Onofrio had 10 punts and averaged 48.0 yards per punt. The Bulldogs were shutout 28-0 on the road against West Texas State. During the home opener, ASTC lost the rivalry matchup 23-0 to Arizona. P Al Onofrio had 11 punts and averaged 45.8 yards per punt. The Bulldogs road contest was forfeited to Hardin-Simmons 1-0. Arizona State Teacher's College earned their first win of the season, as they delivered a 20-0 home shutout over New Mexico State. The Bulldogs were shutout 40-0 by Santa Ana Air Force Base at Goodwin Stadium. It marked the only meeting between the teams in school history. ASTC suffered a 40-6 road loss at Texas El-Paso. The Bulldogs prevailed over NAU for a 14-2 home victory. In the home finale, Arizona State Teacher's College was shutout 13-0 by Albuquerque Air Force Base. It was the only meeting between the teams in school history. The Bulldogs ended the season with a 35-7 road loss against New Mexico.
