The 1933 Arizona State Bulldogs football team was an American football team that represented Arizona State Teachers College (later renamed Arizona State University) in the Border Intercollegiate Athletic Association (BIAA) during the 1933 college football season. In their first season under head coach Rudy Lavik, the Bulldogs compiled a 3–5 record (1–3 against BIAA opponents) and were outscored by their opponents by a combined total of 125 to 73.[1][2] Arizona State's team captain was RG Paul Griffin.[3] Assistant Coach was Earl Pomeroy. The Bulldogs finished (2-2) at home and (1-3) on the road. All home games were played at Irish Field in Tempe, Arizona.

Season Summary

Arizona State Teacher's College suffered a 27-0 road shutout loss in the season opener at Whittier. The Bulldogs dropped a 26-0 shutout defeat against the San Diego Marines on the road. It marked the first ever meeting between the teams in school history. ASTC delivered a 26-13 road win at New Mexico. The Bulldogs fell 13-0 on the road against NAU. In their home opener, Arizona State Teacher's College defeated Fresno State 21-7 at Irish Field. The Bulldogs earned consecutive wins with their 19-7 home victory over New Mexico State. During the rivalry matchup in Tempe, ASTC lost to Arizona 26-7. The Bulldogs closed the season with a 6-0 home shutout loss against NAU.

The usual Arizona State Teacher's College offensive lineup included: (LE Landon Hardesty, LT Anson Cooper, LG Clarence Sexton, C Bill Boyle, RG Claude Duval, RT Elton Harper, RE Tom Lillico, QB John McTeeley, HB Wendell Pickens, FB Bill Baxter, & HB Cyrus Lusher). Sidney Anderson, William Ball, Johnny Burke, & Lowell Callahan were also on roster.

FB William Baxter earned All-Border Conference honors for the 1933 football season.
