12secondstv
12secondtv was a video sharing platform founded in July 2008 by Sol Lipman, Jacob Knobel, and David Beach. It was designed so that users could share 12 second videos in a similar way to Twitter. It allowed users to share short "video statuses" that they could share with followers.
12secondtv was shut down on October 22, 2010. Various reasons were given for its closing, chief among them being a user base that had not increased within the two years of its inception. This led the developers to decide that it was no longer viable to maintain the platform in the face of increasing costs. Twitter also played a role in its closing by declining to form a partnership with 12secondtv. This also limited the growth of the company.[1]
