Żelazna Góra [ʐɛˈlazna ˈɡura] (German Eisenberg) is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Braniewo, within Braniewo County, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, in northern Poland, close to the border with the Kaliningrad Oblast of Russia.[1] It lies approximately 14 kilometres (9 mi) east of Braniewo and 74 km (46 mi) north-west of the regional capital Olsztyn.
Before 1945 the area was part of Germany (East Prussia). The village was founded sometime around 1308 and the village church built during the first third of the 14th century. During World War II heavy fighting took place in the village, which was almost completely destroyed.[2] Following the war the native German populace was expelled and replaced by Poles.
The village has a population of 394.
