İçerde (English: The Insiders) is a Turkish TV series produced by Ay Yapım. The series first aired on 19 September 2016 on Show TV and was inspired by Karadayı, a tv series produced by the same production company. Both lead actors Aras Bulut İynemli and Çağatay Ulusoy received positive feedback for their acting.[1]
Plot
The series begins with the story of "Sarp" and his younger brother "Umut." Umut is kidnapped at the age of 3 by Celal, who is a powerful gang leader in Istanbul. Umut grows in the streets and works for Coşkun as a beggar child. Celal later raises Umut and names him Mert. Celal supports Mert to attend the police academy, and to become part of Yusuf's team. Yusuf is the head of the investigation department and works hard to arrest Celal for his illegal acts for the past 20 years. Sarp also attends the police academy, and becomes Yusuf's favorite student, known for his strength and brilliance. At the graduation ceremony, Yusuf expels Sarp from the police academy and imprisons him for a year to attact Celal's attention. Celal, aware of Sarp, sends his lawyer daughter Melek to rescue him. When Sarps get out of the prison, he joins Celal's team as an undercover cop to find his brother Umut, and to imprison Celal for his illegal acts. On the other hand, Mert works as police who covers Celal's illegal acts and in many cases rescues him . The series demonstrates the two fates of two brothers, and their mother, Fisun who lives with the hopes of finding her kidnapped son, Umut.
Sarp Yılmaz blames himself for having lost his brother and is still haunted by the loss. When getting further involved in Celal Duman’s world, Sarp also finds himself developing deep feelings for the mob boss’s protégé, Melek Yıldız (Bensu Soral). She was taken off the streets begging as a small child by Celal Duman, alongside a little boy, Mert Karadağ. Sarp Yılmaz eventually discovers that Mert Karadağ is embarking on his own mission for Celal Duman.[2]
