Çaldıran (Kurdish: Ebex) is a district and town in Van Province of Turkey. The mayor is Faruk Demir (BDP).
The town is in an earthquake prone area; 3,840 people were killed by a 7.2 magnitude earthquake in 1976.[3]
The lowest temperature recorded in Çaldıran is -46.4 °C on 9 January 1990. It is also the lowest temperature recorded in Turkey.
