Ángel Galup (c.1780-1840s) was an Argentine military, Captain in the Cántabros Montañeses regiment during the May Revolution.[2]
Biography
Galup was born in Buenos Aires, son of José Manuel Galup, born in Genoa, but of Catalan origin.[3] His father had been legal representative of Aimé Bonpland.[4] In 1806 and 1807 he participates in the defense of Buenos Aires during the English invasions.[5] In 1810 Galup, adheres to the May Revolution cause. That same year, he served under orders of the Colonel Ignacio Álvarez Thomas.[6]
In 1816 Ángel Galup, was appointed military commander in Ranchos, Buenos Aires, participating in military expeditions against the Indians.[7]
