Álvaro (Galician: [ˈalβaɾo], Portuguese: [ˈaɫvɐɾu, ˈawvaɾu], Spanish: [ˈalβaɾo]) is a Galician, Portuguese and Spanish male given name and surname (see Spanish naming customs). It may be related to the Old Norse name Alfarr, formed of the elements alf "elf" and arr "warrior".
