Zhang Shuguang (engineer)
Not to be confused with Zhang Shuguang, the former provincial leader of Hebei and Inner Mongolia.
Zhang Shuguang (Chinese: 张曙光; born December 1956) was the deputy chief engineer of Ministry of Railways and the deputy chief designer of the Chinese high-speed railway. He has since been fired for corruption in the high-speed rail projects.[1] He is estimated to have misappropriated $2.8 billion to his personal overseas accounts.[2]
Zhang was born in Shanghai but is considered a native of his ancestral home Liyang, Jiangsu by Chinese convention. He graduated from Lanzhou Railway University in 1982.[3]
