Zetech University, is a private university located in Nairobi, Kenya.[1] Zetech was founded by engineer Ken Mbiuki in 1999 and is registered by the Ministry of Higher Education Science and Technology.[2]
It collaborates with the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology offering programs from the institution, and now offers their own university programs as well.
The university comprises five schools: School of Media Arts and Design, School of Hospitality and Tourism, School of Business, School of ICT and Engineering and School of Development Studies.
The Chancellor is Professor Susan Alfano and the Vice Chancellor is Professor Edwin K. Wamukoya.
History
Although Zetech University was founded in 1999, Ken Mbiuki had been offering basic IT training in his dormitory room since 1997, where he operated under the name Zenith Technologies while pursuing his undergraduate studies at the University of Nairobi.[3] At the time, computing technology was fairly new in Kenya.
In 1999 Ken Mbiuki leased office space in Summit House and registered an academic institution under the name Zetech College - a fusion of the words 'Zenith and Technology'. The college offered purely IT based courses and has slowly grown over the years. The uni has been accredited as a full university by the Commission for University Education.
