Zacharias Mar Aprem is Bishop Of Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church.
Childhood
Zacharias Mar Aprem was born on 11 March 1966 as son of E K Kuriakose and Sossama Kuriakose. He is a member of St. George Valiyapally, Chungathara, Malabar Diocese.He obtained his B.Sc degree from Malabar Christian College (Calicut University),B.Th Orthodox Seminary kottayam, M.Th Gurukul College (Serampore University), D.Th from Sathri,Banglore.
Priesthood
He was ordained as sub Deacon on 5 June 1990 at Parumala. He was ordained as deacon on 14 March 1992 at St George Church Korzhikodu. He was ordained as priest on 25 March 1992 at St. George Church, Chungathara by Thomas Mar Themothios Parishes in which Zacharias served as Vicar are St. George Cathedral, Korzikodu, St. Thomas Banglore, St. Gregorios Salem, Mar Gregorios Nilambur, St. Marys Akampadam, St. Stephans Karapurum, St. Mary's Shornur, St. Thomas Nattassery, Mar Baselios and Mar Gregorios Thazathangadi. He held the positions of Registrar, Orthodox Seminary, Principal Secretary to the Catholicos, Chief Editor of Malankara saba masika, Member Ecumenical Relations Committee, Seminary Governing Board, Bible Society (kerala auxiliary) As of 2013 he was a professor in orthodox theological seminary, Kottayam.[1]
Metropolitan
The Malankara Syrian Christian Association met on which 2010 February at Shasthamkotta elected him as the bishop along with six others. Baselios Thoma Didymos I professed him as Ramban on 21 March 2010. He was ordained as bishop by Didymos I on 12 May 2010 at Mar Elia Cathedral,[2] Kottayam.
