Yung Rich Nation[1] is the debut studio album by American hip hop trio Migos. It was released on July 31, 2015,[2] by 300 Entertainment, Quality Control Music and Atlantic Records. Chris Brown and Young Thug were the only guest performers on the album, while the producers Zaytoven, Honorable C.N.O.T.E. and Murda Beatz, were involved on twelve of the album's fifteen songs.
Background
The members of the group consisting by Quavo, Offset and Takeoff, collectively known as Migos, are an Atlanta-based southern hip hop trio, formed back in 2011. As a group, they have been putting the releases of nine mixtapes, which gained them a mass popularity at the time. On June 13, 2013, Migos released the first installment of the Y.R.N. series, which is titled Y.R.N. (Young Rich Niggas).
On April 18, 2015, all three members were arrested, during their performance at Georgia Southern University, in which all three were facing felony gun and drug charges.[3] Quavo and Takeoff were released on $10,000 bond. Though Offset were still remained in custody, forcing Migos to cancel their tour, that would assure that the Y.R.N.: Tha Album will be ready for the release date of June 16, 2015.[4][5] However, the album was eventually being pushed back to July 31, 2015.[6] The album title was then changed from Y.R.N.: Tha Album to Yung Rich Nation, along with the cover art being changed as well, however, the release date was not.[7]
Singles
On February 5, 2015, Migos released the album's first single, "One Time", which was produced by Deko.[8] On March 23, 2015, the trio released a music video for the single, in cross-promotion with the Youtube Music Awards.[9]
