After graduating in university, the band members decided that the band name would change for the last time, becoming "Young Lyre".[3] The backing vocalist and guitarist, Kiran Rai, explaining the following about the change of band name, "The name instantly resonated with all of us and we knew it was a name that felt good. The Lyre bird itself is pretty crazy, and altogether the name somehow carries the vibe we feel with the band".[4] In 2011, Young Lyre have opened for international acts such as Green Day and Train.[5]

On May 24, 2014, the band started their crowd funding campaign to help funding their second EP. The campaign of $2,000 meet its goal in February 21, 2015 with the total of $2,135.[7] On 10 May 2015, the band, after a long period producing the EP, released the single "We Go Fast", founded by the NZ On Air project.
