Yigal Azrouël
Yigal Azrouël is an Israeli American New York based fashion designer. He was born in Israel to a family French-Moroccan Jewish extraction and currently lives in the United States.[1]
Career
In 1998, Yigal Azrouël launched his first collection in New York. The following year, he began his participation with 7th on 6th/NY Fashion Week. In August 2000, he opened a full service showroom and production facility in the New York Garment District, a which produces 90% of his products. [2]
In February 2003, he opened his first freestanding boutique, designed by Dror Benshetrit, in Manhattan's Meatpacking District on West 14th Street. [3]
In July 2004, Azrouël was inducted into the CFDA. In October 2004 Azrouël showed his Spring/Summer 2005 collection at the Ritz Paris for his first international showing. [4]
In 2009, at New York's Fashion Week 2009, Yigal Azrouel fired his front-of-house publicist, People Revo-lution's Kelly Cutrone, for allowing sex columnist Ashley Alexandra Dupre to sit in the front row at his show instead of turning her away from the show.[5]
Techniques
Azrouël, who received no formal training in fashion design,[6] is best known for his feminine designs and expert draping techniques.[7]
