Yeren (Zhou dynasty)
Yeren 野人, "men of the fields", "rustics" - category of population in the Zhou world (11-3 cc. BCE) referring to the people living outside of the Zhou cultural centers.
Lunyu 11:1 provides problematic statement on primacy of the yeren in undergoing influence of the "ritual and music" (先進於禮樂,野人也), that were traditionally thought to be achievements of the Zhou culture.[1] Cf. Hua–Yi distinction.
