Yawd Serk was the commander in chief of the Shan State Army - South (SSA-S) and chairman of the Restoration Council of Shan State, until his resignation on 3 February 2014.[1] He maintained the rank of Lieutenant General whilst he was in the SSA-S.
Yawd was a major contributor to peace talks between major Shan rebel factions and the government of Myanmar.
