Webber International University Warriors

The Webber International University Warriors are the athletic teams for Webber International University in Crooked Lake, Florida.

Webber International University teams are nicknamed the Warriors. The university is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA),^[1] primarily competing in The Sun Conference, formerly known as the Florida Sun Conference (FSC).^[2]

Achievements

Bowling

Due to the backing of the world famous Kegel Training Center in Lake Wales, Florida, Webber's bowling program has become one of the most successful in the United States. The program began in the 2008-2009 season with a men's team with a women's program added beginning in the 2009-2010 season. In every season, in program history, the team has advanced to the National Championship tournament.

In 2010, in their first year as a program, the women won the USBC Intercollegiate Team Championships in El Paso, Texas. The final aired on ESPN2 on May 5, 2010.^[3]

In the 2010-2011 season, the Men's team was ranked # 1, for the entire season, by the Bowling Writers Association of America and the National Collegiate Bowling Coaches Association. In April,2011, at the Intercollegiate Team Championships in Columbus, GA, the team lost in the finals to Fresno State, which aired on ESPN2 on May 15.

In 2009, in their first year as a program, the men finished as National Semi-Finalists losing to the eventual National Champion Wichita State. Program head Coach Slowinski was named as National Collegiate Bowling Coaches Association National Coach of the Year in 2010 and was named as finalist in 2009 as well as 2011.

Men's soccer

On October 27, 2010, the Warriors defeated local rivals Warner to win the Crooked Lake Cup and qualify for the 2010 Sun Conference regional tournament. Although the series was tied 2-2 on aggregate, Webber won the conference portion, therefore were awarded the trophy.^[4]
