"We Like 2 Party" is a single recorded by South Korean group Big Bang. It was released digitally on June 5, 2015, by YG Entertainment, as the fourth single from MADE Series, and the second from A.

Background

The first poster was released on May 28, 2015, by YG Entertainment.[1] The second poster was released a day later, including the writers and composers.[2]

Commercial performance

In its first week, "We Like 2 Party" peaked at number three on the Gaon Digital Chart and sold 278,367 digital copies.[3][4] At the end of June, "We Like 2 Party" was the second-best-selling single in South Korea, only behind their own other song "Bang Bang Bang". It sold 515,406 copies, and gained 16.933 million streams.[5]

Critical reception

"We Like 2 Party" was named one of the best music videos Of June 2015, and was described as "casual and inviting feeling the music video gives off from start to finish...unscripted, ridiculous, and easily gets us into the party mood"[6]

The song ranked nine as the best 20 Korean singles in 2015 in Taiwan.[7]

Music video

The "We Like 2 Party" music video was shot on Jeju Island on May 19, 2015.[8] It features self-recorded footage from the members themselves; the members were drunk during the filming in order to have a more natural feeling for the music video, "You'll be able to see the comfortable image of Big Bang rather than a more weighted-down Big Bang." said a rep from the agency.[9] The music video showed a carefree side of Big Bang, playing, party and drinking alcohol, unlike their other songs, who have been known for their powerful image.[10] Billboard gave a review of the song, saying that Big Bang showed the playful side of themselves, and also showed their strong friendship[11]

The music video was named the third-most-viewed K-Pop video both in America and worldwide on June by Billboard.[12]

Banning

The song was banned from KBS due to the use of profanity and the mentioning of brand names in the track. In response YG Entertainment reportedly considered to edit the song, but to this date they didn't.[13][14]
