The Wave Group (Ponty Chadha)is a business conglomerate that deals in the manufacturing, real estate, education, sports and entertainment industries. It was founded by the late Mr. Kulwant Singh Chadha in 1963[1] and is based in India.[2] Four decades later, the Wave Group has grown[3] to include a number of businesses including sugar manufacturing, distilleries and breweries, real estate, malls and multiplexes, beverages, sports, education and entertainment.[4][5] under Vice Chairman Mr. Monty Chadha.
History
The Wave Group was founded in [anywhere ]] in 1963 by the late Mr. Kulwant Singh Chadha.[6] Mr Kulwant Singh Chadha was a liquor baron from Uttar Pradesh, India. His son, Gurdeep Singh Chadha, also known as Ponty Chadha, used to sell goods with his father in front of a Liquor shop as a child.[7] Over the course of 40 years, the Wave Group has expanded to incorporate a number of different businesses, including the real estate arm of the company, Wave Infratech.[8] Today, the Wave Group is led by Mr. Manpreet Singh (Monty) Chadha[9] who has run the company since the death of his father, Mr Gurdeep Singh Chadha, in 2012.[10]i

Real Estate
Wave Infratech is a real estate arm of the Wave Group. Wave Infratech promotes a number of verticals, namely residential, commercial and retail[11][12]
Manufacturing
The Wave Group has expanded to become a manufacturer in the following Industries:
- Sugar - The Wave Group owns and operates a total of seven sugar mills in Uttar Pradesh and one in Punjab.[13][14]
- Steel - The Wave Group steel plant facility began commercially producing steel in 2013. The facility includes melting, rolling and ready-made steel manufacturing, and is based in Dhanaura, Uttar Pradesh.[15]
- Paper - The Wave Group manufactures kraft and semi-kraft paper from a plant in Bilaspur.[16]
- Distillery - Brands produced at Wave Distilleries include Raffles, Evening Special and Divine Special Premium. As a result of implementing eco-friendly processes, the distillery in Punjab has received carbon credits.[17]
- Beverages - Wave Beverages Private Limited owns and runs a beverage plant in Amritsar, Punjab. It is one of the nine franchises of Coca Cola India Ltd.[18][19]
- Green Power - The Wave Group has established power cogeneration facilities at two of its sugar units in Dhanaura, Uttar Pradesh and Dasuya, Punjab. The plants generate green power using 'bagasse' – a residue from the cane sugar manufacturing process.[20]
Education
The Wave Group's Genesis Global School, situated in Noida, India is a residential school with a campus of over 30 acres. The day-cum-boarding school emphasises the importance of technology, Modern Pedagogy, culture and innovation in its syllabus.[21] In 2013, the Genesis Global School was ranked 5th in a survey of schools across India by the Hindustan Times.[22]
Sports
Delhi Waveriders (abbreviated as DWR) is a field hockey franchise based in Delhi that plays in the Hockey India League. It is owned by the Wave Group.[23] Amongst the 24 players in the team, 14 are Indian nationals while the other members are from Germany, Pakistan, Netherlands, South Africa, Australia and Spain. In 2012, the Wave Group paid $78,000 for captain Sardar Singh, making him the highest-paid Indian player of the league.[24][25]
Entertainment
The Wave Group moved into the film production and distribution business in 1999.[26] In 2014, it has distributed over 150 Bollywood blockbusters.[27] In addition to India, the global distribution network covers a range of countries that include Nepal, Bhutan, USA and the UK.
Corporate Social Responsibility
Mata Bhagwanti Chadha Niketan
Another successful effort of the Wave Group in promoting special education, the Mata Bhagwanti Chadha Niketan (MBCN) is a charitable school and rehabilitation centre for children with intellectual impairment, cerebral palsy, autism spectrum disorder, hearing impairment and multiple disabilities.[28][29] Endeavouring to grant maximum independence to the differently abled, the institute also runs specialized vocational training programs and eco-friendly paper product manufacturing workshops. The school is located in Noida and was founded in the year 1999.[30][31]
Ponty Chadha Foundation
The Ponty Chadha Foundation is a nonprofit NGO set up by the wife of Ponty Chadha, Mrs. Jatinder Kaur Chadha.[32] The Ponty Chadha Foundation is involved in a number of socially responsible activities that keep in line with the foundation's belief of giving back to society and caring for others.[33][34]
