Waseem Ahmad (Urdu: وسیم احمد) (born 19 September 1959) is a Pakistani Journalist, Businessman. He is the owner of multiple newspapers publish from Pakistan. Waseem Ahmed is Editor-in-Chief of his own two newspapers Daily Awam (Urdu) and Daily Public (English), Daily Awam is the one of the largest circulating newspaper of Balochistan, Pakistan.

Early life

He was born in Quetta capital of Balochistan, Pakistan. Ahmed acquired his primary education from Govt. School Lal Suhanra and later moved back to Quetta, Balouchistan in 1980s. He started working for a daily newspaper Nara-e-Haq in Quetta.[1]

Assassination attempt

Waseem Ahmed and family survived many times, in 2008 a powerful bomb exploded in the offices of Awam Group in Quetta city.[2][3] He received a lot of threats from different terrorist organisation and according to a news appear in late 2008 Waseem Ahmed's name is in the target hit list of extremists of Balochistan and government advised him to take extra security measures.
