Walter Parks is a songwriter, vocalist, guitarist and bassist originally from Jacksonville, FL now living in Savannah, GA.
Career
From 1991-99, Parks performed in the alternative-folk duo The Nudes with Stephanie Winters. The Nudes released three albums: The Nudes (1993), Velvet Sofa (1996),[1] and Boomerang (1998), and licensed recordings to an HBO series. Billboard magazine described the duo's first CD as unlike "anything else on the airwaves."[2]
From 2001 to 2010, Parks toured with Richie Havens. Various venues included the Cannes Film Festival, Carnegie Hall, Madison Square Garden, Monte Carlo Sporting Festival (Monaco), Chiasso Festate (Switzerland), Solidays (France) and Womad Festival (Australia, New Zealand). He played on Haven's albums Wishing Well (2002),[3] Grace of the Sun (2004) and Nobody Left to Crown (2008).
Parks formed low country blues band, Swamp Cabbage in 2003 to present.[4] Various venues & festivals include Orangeville Blues & Jazz Festival (Orangeville, Canada), Breminale Festival (Bremen, Germany), Kultursommer Festival (Oldenburg, Germany), Rhythm & Roots Festival (Charlestown, RI), WCL at The Queen Theatre (Wilmington, DE), Rockwood Music Hall (New York, NY), Knuckleheads Saloon (Kansas City, MO), The Garage (Winston-Salem, NC), Blind Willie's (Atlanta, GA), Suwannee Springfest (Live Oak, FL), LEAF Festival(Black Mountain, NC). They have released two studio recordings, HONK and SQUEAL, and one live recording.
In 2011 Parks worked with the Florida Ballet on a joint project "Ballet de Marais" that debuted October 1, 2011 in Jacksonville, FL.[5]
Parks digitally released his debut solo self-titled CD December 6 2011.[6]
