Over the years, thanks largely to the evolution of the comedy industry, Warri, Delta State, has become synonymous with comedy. Hardly is a Nigerian comedian considered funny unless he has a trove of jokes derived from Warri and its various attributes. Now, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, is gradually becoming to music, what Warri is to comedy. In the last couple of years, some artistes, born and bred in the Garden City, are foraying into the music industry, turning it by the ears and sustaining music lovers’ attention. Though there have been other artistes in the past, we take a look at four of the reigning artistes from Port Harcourt like Timaya, Duncan Mighty, Waconzy and Frank D’Nero.[23]
It was celebration time for Afropop/Afrobeat Maestro Waconzy, who turned a year older on Saturday, August 10, 2013.

The singer, obviously humbled by the event, thanked God for a successful music journey in which he’s toured the world, armed with his music and preaching the lyrical gospel of creativity and positivity to his massive fan population the world over.

So as expected, the ‘Celebrate’ crooner switched to celebratory mood. First he made a connection to his ever-supportive fans, releasing a direct phone number (08035527776) for them to make a direct connection to him. He also was available on Twitter, having some bonding moments with his fans, and these lasted between noon and 10pm yesterday. Trust the ladies to take advantage!

Now here’s the best part…

Not content with popping them bottles alone, Waconzy did some sharing. The singer spent a great deal of his time, feeding over 1000 beggars and the less privileged at different areas in Lagos. He also did donate money to them for drugs and relief materials. How sweet!

Well, as every good thing must end, Sunday, today, will have Waconzy having a thanksgiving service at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG). Where he’s sure to have some quality bonding moment with his Maker.[10]

Waconzy recently partnered with Chief Sobere Diri, chairman of Hamilton Technologies to donate a large number of treated mosquito nets, anti-malaria drugs to residents of riverine areas in Niger delta to help eradicate malaria from that area.

Malaria is the biggest enemy of the human race. Malaria kills about 3,000 Children daily and about 2 million people yearly. I believe we cannot keep waiting on the government, thats why i took it upon myself to be an agent of change and touch as many lives as possible via my "Waconzy Versus Malaria 2" anti-malaria campaign.[24]

But as its said, give respect to whom its due, Burna Boy clearly hasn’t forgotten that and he has given a huge shout out to Waconzy, though not publicly, he has done it through what he does best... His music, on the second track (No no no) of the hugely impressive album, Burna Boy hails Waconzy.[25]
