W. Godfrey Wood

W. Godfrey Wood is the son of Wimbledon champion Sidney Wood. He played goalie for Harvard's hockey team,[1] and was the last player cut from the 1964 Olympic hockey team.[2] Wood started the Hartford Whalers and the Portland Pirates hockey teams.

Family

Wood still holds the collegiate season record for lowest goals against average (1.27 GAA, in 1962),[3] as a goalie for Harvard's hockey team. His save percentage of .945 ranks second in all time NCAA standings (only .001 behind .946). He started the Hartford Whalers and the Portland Pirates. Wood has three children: Whitney Wood Bylin (Palm Beach, FL), Sidney Gray Wood (Portland, ME), and Amanda Burr Wood (San Francisco, CA).
