Controversies

Sri Vyasaraja Seva Samiti, a registered body has levelled several allegations of corruption, malpractice and nepotism against the three last pontiffs of the Vyasaraja Matha.[1]

The Mutt's administration has been taken over by the Government of Karnataka with the appointment of K. Jairaj, former IAS officer as an administrator. [2]

The present presiding pontiff Śrī Vidyamanohara Tīrtha was arrested on a cheque bounce case by Andhra Pradesh Police.[3][4][5] The seer was arrested based on a private complaint in a Kadapa court relating to a cheque bounce case. After recording his attendance, the magistrate released him on conditional bail.[6] The seer was arrested again in October 2015 along with the seer's mother and his personal cook in a case of destruction of a chariot and theft of silver that had adorned the chariot.[7]

Following these controversies, Śrī Vidyamanohara Tīrtha has given an offer to Prof. D Prahaladachar to take Sanyaasa as his disciple on before the last week of December'2015 while many miscreants are propogating wrong information with the content that the present pontiff has stepped down from the peetha and has handed over the reigns to Prof D Prhaladachar.
