Volnovakha (Ukrainian: Волноваха) is a small city of district significance in Donetsk Oblast (province) of Ukraine. It serves as the administrative center of Volnovakha Raion, one of 18 districts into which Donetsk Oblast is divided. Population: 23,305(2013 est.)[1]; 24,647 (2001).

Beside a city proper, the city municipality (council) also includes villages Novohryhorivka, Novopavlivka and Trudove.

During War in Donbass, on 13 January 2015, 10 civilians were killed and 20 injured, two of them deadly, after an attack on an passenger bus at a checkpoint in Buhas, a town in north-east of Volnovakha.[2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9]
