Volkswagen India Pvt Ltd is a division of the Volkswagen Group India, founded in 2007. Volkswagen Group India has invested over INR 4,000 crores for setting up the state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Pune Chakan, Maharashtra

Manufacturing facilities

Volkswagen India Pvt. Ltd. operates a manufacturing plant in Chakan, Maharashtra which is capable of producing 200,000 vehicles per annum. Along with the manufacturing of Volkswagen Polo and Volkswagen Vento, the plant is also shared by Škoda Auto India Private Limited for manufacturing the Škoda Rapid.

Volkswagen inaugurates its new engine assembly facility in Chakan, Maharashtra, India. Set-up at a cost of about Rs. 240 crores (Euro 710 million) the new plant is an extension to its existing car manufacturing plant in the same region. The plant reportedly holds production capacity of about 98,000 engines annually.The plant shall be used for assembling the recently launched 1.5-litre TDI engine that is capable of delivering two different power outputs of about 90PS and 105PS respectively.[1]

Sales and service network

Volkswagen India Private Limited’s prime focus is to manufacture quality products at its Chakan Plant. It sells its products to a group company viz. Volkswagen Group Sales India Pvt. Ltd., which is based out of Mumbai. Volkswagen Group Sales India Pvt. Ltd. has a large dealer network in India for sale of products manufactured by Volkswagen India Pvt. Ltd.

Fan club

A group of Volkswagen car enthusiasts started a fan club for Volkswagen vehicle owners and fans and created Volkswagen Fans Club Community Website on 24 March 2012. Registered members discuss about their Volkswagen vehicles and share their knowledge. They help each other in solving issues and guide those people who are seeking to purchase new Volkswagen vehicle.
