Vision Service Plan
Vision Service Plan, often known simply as VSP, is the largest provider of vision insurance in the United States. Founded in Oakland, California in 1955, the company offered the first prepaid, not-for-profit vision benefit. As of 2015, the company has 57 million members and 34,000 participating doctors worldwide.[1] It is based in Rancho Cordova, California.
In addition to its insurance services, these businesses also fall under the umbrella of the VSP Global enterprise brand:
- Altair Eyewear, a private label eyewear brand, launched by VSP in 1992
- Eye Designs, a developer of merchandising and interior displays for the ophthalmic industry, acquired by VSP in 2008 as part of VSP's acquisition of Marchon
- Eyefinity, a developer of practice management software
- Eyefinity was launched in 2000 by VSP
- OfficeMate, which was acquired by Marchon in 1994, was acquired by VSP when VSP acquired Marchon in 2008. OfficeMate was merged into Eyefinity.
- Marchon Eyewear, a manufacturer and distributor of eyewear, acquired by VSP in 2008
- VSP Optics Group, a provider of ophthalmic products and services
