Vincenza Carrieri-Russo (born June 10) is a model, actress, entrepreneur and a beauty pageant titleholder from Newark, Delaware. She competed in the Miss USA pageant in April 2008, and Miss United States pageant in 2014.

Prior to winning the Miss Delaware United States crown in 2014 and placing second runner up at the Miss United States pageant, Carrieri-Russo competed in pageants for 15 years, winning various crowns, including Miss Delaware USA.

She is the first representative of Delaware to compete in the Miss Italy USA Pageant, placing top six in the nation.

She was a three-time runner-up in the Miss Delaware Teen USA pageant, placed in the top ten at the Miss Delaware (the state pageant of Miss America) competition twice, and won various special awards including community service, photogenic, and swimsuit.

Early life and education

She was born in Newark, Delaware,and is a graduate of University of Delaware with a major in English and concentration in literary studies.

Career

Literacy advocacy

In 2002, she co-founded the literacy organization Success Won't Wait Inc.[1] when she was an 18-year-old high school senior.

Since then, she has been active in promoting literacy and has helped collect and redistribute over 600,000 books to communities, schools, and non-profit organizations in need.

Beauty pageant competitions

Carrieri-Russo competed in pageants for nine years prior to winning Miss Delaware USA. She was a three-time runner-up in the Miss Delaware Teen USA pageant. She also competed in the Miss Delaware America competition four times having placed in the top ten twice where she also won several community service awards.

Carrieri-Russo held the MAO local titles of Miss Greater Wilmington, Miss First State, Miss Brandywine, and Miss Tri County. She was also the recipient of the one-time Photogenic Award at the Miss Delaware pageant in 2006.

After her year as Miss Delaware USA, she went on to be named a top-six finalist at the annual Miss Italia USA pageant.

Modelling, actress and spokesperson

Carrieri-Russo has walked the catwalk in New York City for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, done catalog and print work, appeared in a feature film, emceed and hosted many events, fund raisers and national televised pageants, and has been featured on the cover of various magazines.

Restaurateur

With her sister Margherita Carrieri-Russo, winner of Miss Brandywine 2014 for the Miss America Pageant, founded the Vincenza & Margherita Italian-American Bistro.

A casual dining restaurant located in Wilmington, Delaware, it features authentic Italian cuisine by award-winning chefs, as well as an extensive martini bar. The restaurant, developed by the entire Carrieri-Russo family, opened this year.
