Parliamentary elections will be held in Vietnam on 22 May 2016. The members of the National Assembly, which subsequently appoints the Prime Minister, and deputies of People’s Councils at all levels are to be elected. [1] Since Vietnam is a one-party state, the ruling Communist Party of Vietnam is guaranteed to win. The date of the elections, which falls on Sunday according to the laws, was announced on 24 November 2015.

Electoral system

The 500 members of the National Assembly are elected from 182 multi-member constituencies with between 6 and 26 seats using the two-round system; candidates must receive at least 50% of the vote in the first round to be elected, with a second round held on a plurality basis.[2]
