Victor Mikhailovich Kalashnikov (Russian: Ви́ктор Миха́йлович Кала́шников; is a Russian small arms designer known for developing the PP-19 Bizon submachine guns. He is the son of Mikhail Kalashnikov.[3]

Biography

Kalashnikov began his weapon designing career in 1966 by conducting a series of tests of the AK-47 and summarizing the factors that affect its stability, durability and reliability. He was then involved in the development of self-loading hunting carbines, such as Medved-3, and improved models of PK machine gun. In 1983 he became division head at Izhmash and led the development of the PP-19 Bizon and its several modifications.[3]

Kalashnikov holds a PhD in engineering and about 30 patents. He is a member of the Academy of Engineering of Udmurtia.[3]
