Verena von Strenge (born 27 July 1975) is a German singer and dancer best known for her stint as the lead singer for the German happy hardcore dance group Dune from 1995-1997 and 1999-2000.
Verena's love for dance started when she was very young. At the age of five, she was taught classical dance by her grandmother who was a former ballerina. However, Verena had to give up her plans of being a professional dancer due to knee problems.
Career
Verena started her music career with the German happy hardcore dance group Dune as a dancer and singer during their initial live performances. At the time (1995), Dune consisted of Oliver Froning, Jens Oettrich and Bernd Burhoff. It was this job that led her to become the group's lead vocalist.
After recording three albums with Dune (Expedicion, Live! and Forever), Verena decided to leave in 1997 to pursue a career as a solo singer. She released three singles: Finally Alone, Heartbeat and Part of Your World, but the planned solo career didn´t run as she hoped.
In 1999, Verena rejoined Dune and at the end of the year the single Dark Side Of The Moon was released. Verena also recorded other tracks for Dune, Heaven, Back To The Future, Here I Am and Space Invaders. Heaven was never released due a court injection, but the other tracks were eventually released on Dune's greatest hits album History.
In 2002, Verena started a new solo career, but the planned single was never released.
In 2007, Verena was the lead singer for a music project called Moon Dust. The single released was called Angels, a cover version of the song written and sung by Robbie Williams.
Personal life
In 2009, Verena successfully finished her Diploma in Psychology and Ergonomics at the Technical University of Berlin. She currently lives and works in Berlin and as of 2011 is working as the Director of Human Resources at Plista GmbH. In 2012, Verena married and now goes by the name Verena Adam von Strenge.
