Venus Airlines was an airline from Greece that was operational between 1992 and 1996.[1]
History
The airline was founded in 1992 as one of the first private owned airline companies to acquire an Air Operator Certificate (A.O.C.) from the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (H.C.A.A.). It began operations in April 1993 using McDonnell Douglas MD-83 aircraft for charter flights between Scandinavia, Germany, Switzerland, France and Greece. During the 1994 tourist season, the McDonnell Douglas MD-87 was received and also the Boeing 757-200.
Venus Airlines suffered because of Greek bureaucratical procedures and competition. By the 1995/96 season operations had been reduced and the B757s were no longer in service.
