Veggie Galaxy is a diner/vegetarian restaurant located in the Central Square section of Cambridge, Massachusetts.[1]

Founded by Adam Penn in 2011 after operating his first vegetarian restaurant called Veggie Planet in Harvard Square for more than ten years.[2] Veggie Galaxy has been credited in Boston Magazine as “the Best of Boston for Vegetarian Restaurants”[3]

The head chef is Sam Ranger,[2] and the pastry chef is Jess Lum.[4] The restaurant is inspired by classic diner cuisine and vegetarian cuisine and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The fact that they don't serve any meat or seafood should be considered a "footnote".[5] Veggie Galaxy is mainly concerned with serving full-flavored, balanced dishes that are pleasing to vegetarians, vegans, and omnivores alike.

History

The diner opened for business on September 5, 2011.

Bitcoin acceptance

In May 2013,[6] Veggie Galaxy began accepting bitcoin payments from Monday through Friday and became the second physical location in the Greater Boston area to accept the cryptocurrency.[7] The restaurant handles about one or two checks a week paid via Bitcoin and sporadically they have had a couple of larger groups of Bitcoin customers.[8]

Awards

Veggie Galaxy has earned numerous awards and prizes during its existence, including over five visits by certain individuals.
