The church is part of the Vangsnes parish in the Indre Sogn deanery in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The white, wooden church, which has 261 seats, was consecrated on 24 October 1861 by the Dean Thomas Erichsen. The local Vicar Harald Ulrik Sverdrup made the architectural designs for the building.
