Vị Xuyên is a rural district of Hà Giang Province in the Northeast region of Vietnam. As of 2003 the district had a population of 87,164.[1] The district covers an area of 1,452 km². The district capital lies at Vị Xuyên.[1]

History

Until the Nguyễn Dynasty saw the growth of Hà Giang Vị Xuyên was the largest settlement in the area.[2]
