Uurainen (Swedish: Urais)is a municipality of Finland.

It is located in the province of Western Finland and is part of the Central Finland region. The municipality has a population of 3,645 (30 June 2015)[2] and covers an area of 372.26 square kilometres (143.73 sq mi) of which 24.22 km2 (9.35 sq mi) is water.[1] There are all together 125 lakes in Uurainen. Biggest lakes are Kyynämöinen, Sääkspää and Iso-Uurainen.[6] The population density is 10.47 inhabitants per square kilometre (27.1/sq mi).

The municipality is unilingually Finnish. The municipality is also been known as "Urais" in Swedish documents.[7]
