Usmanpura is an affluent suburban locality on the banks of the Sabarmati River in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. 'Usmanpura' name made from name of Syed Usman (r.a), his tomb located next to Usmanpura garden, famous religious tomb frequented by the city's all religion people. Usmanpura is an important landmark on the cultural map of India as it houses Darpan Academy, run by Mallika Sarabhai, one of the most famous exponents of classical dancing in India. The locality is also known for the premier hotels in the area, such as Fortune Landmark, Hyatt Regency, Holiday Inn Express, and Regenta. The boundaries of the suburb also touch Gujarat Vidyapith a major university founded by Mahatma Gandhi, the father of Indian independence.
