Upson-Lee High School is a secondary school in Thomaston, Georgia. It is the only high school in Upson County. It is a combination of the former R. E. Lee Institute and Upson High School, both previously located in Upson County. Upson-Lee High School serves 1284 students with a diverse and challenging selection of academic and elective courses, advanced placement and honors programs, sixteen CTAE (Career, Technical and Agriculture Education) pathways, Navy JROTC, and dual enrollment with Gordon College and Southern Crescent Technical College. The school offers eighteen varsity sports along with academic teams and clubs.
Ninth Grade Academy
The Upson-Lee Ninth Grade Academy opened in August 2011 and operates as a school within a school. The academy allows ULHS ninth graders to take their core academic courses within this smaller learning community. Highly qualified teachers work closely with one another to ensure that all ninth graders are mastering the demands of the rigorous, college-prep curriculum embodied in the Georgia Performance Standards. In addition, U-L Ninth Grade Academy offers courses and support initiatives at all levels to ensure that academy students are successful and on-track to graduate at the end of this crucial first year of high school.
